Screenshots of the Windows 8 Version

First, a thank you…to you!

Everyone, I’d like to thank you for using the app and a special thanks to those of you who have communicated with me, the developer. I feel like I’m part of a community with your involvement; it is truly humbling. ( ^ ^ ) Also, the app has been featured in the store about 6 times in the past couple of months in various parts of the globe and it’s all because of you guys leaving reviews, tweeting, and downloading the app. Thank you!

Now, for the news

I’d like to give y’all some updates on the progress of the Windows 8 version. Last time, I was only able to do a screenshot of the home page because the database engine pooped on me, so I couldn’t go anywhere that required data!

Here is what I worked on for the past couple of days:

This is the Review page, where you’d go for your help list when you save items. I haven’t gotten a chance to test it, but it’s looking pretty good with some sample data. The text is generated from an old Latin document called Lorem Ipsum, in case you were wondering.

I’m not showing the bottom appbar (when you swipe up from the bottom bezel or right click), but you can remove items from the list there. I also need to hide the speech icon when in the zoomed out mode (bottom picture). The bottom picture is how you view the entire list of items by pinching to zoom out (also works on the Kanji page).

This page should be fully functional. I just need to hide the button and navigate back to the home page automatically if you remove all of the items from the list (I just realized that I should also add a clear list button, too. Oops).

What this app has that the phone doesn’t

Many of you have posted reviews saying how much you liked the writing section (thank you very much! And if anyone hasn’t, please do! It helps out a lot!). It would be a shame to not take advantage of the extra real estate, right?

Well, my writing looks pretty terrible, but I did it with the mouse. This screen will work with mouse, finger, and stylus, so you can flip the stylus around to erase/write or use the bottom app bar if you’re using fingers or mouse. Also, the characters at the top can animate their strokes (if applicable) by tapping once to start/proceed 1 at a time like the phone or twice to stop.

Post in the comments or email me what you think! I’ll try to post some more teasers in the next coming weeks.

I’m really looking forward to try this out when it comes to the store. Looks nice. Was this going to be a unified app or a separate buy?

Technically, it is not a universal app. This is will be mainly to get it out on market and I plan to release a universal version later. For now, by signing in with your Microsoft account, your purchases are saved to the cloud, which is how the app will come at the reduced price.
